Mumbai, is the capital city of Maharashtra. It is situated on the east coast of India by the Arabian Sea. Mumbai is originally constituted of seven islands. The Gateway of India

The Gateway of India is an unique monument built during the British Rule. It is located on the waterfront in the Apollo Bunder area in the city of Mumbai at the end of Chhatrapati Shivaji Marg and overlooks the Arabian Sea. The Gateway of India is the city’s top tourist attraction. The structure was erected to commemorate the landing of King George V and Queen Mary at Apollo Bunder, when they visited India in 1911. Built in Indo-Saracenic style  and the construction of the monument was completed in 1924. The structure is a large arch, 85 feet high and built in yellow basalt and indissoluble concrete. The architectural design was done by architect, George Wittet. The Gateway was the ceremonial entrance to India for Viceroys and the new Governors of Bombay.
